Government To Establish Another Elderly Care Centre in Phnom Penh

Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation is planning to construct another elderly care centre in Phnom Penh in response to the increasing demand for accommodation and necessary care of the elderly.

The plan was shared by the ministry's Under Secretary of State H.E. Mom Bunthan in a consultation workshop on National Policy on Ageing 2017-2030 Action Plan recently.

Presently, Cambodia has over 1.2 million people aged 60 up � about 7 percent of the total population.

The government is also establishing elderly association at 1,646 communes/Sangkat across the country, while putting forward strategy on social welfare system development and National Policy on Ageing.

The move with the establishment of the care centre proves another effort by the Royal Government of Cambodia to address issued faced by the senior citizens.
