Government’s Action Plan to Attract More Visitors to Siem Reap

The Royal Government of Cambodia has put forward the action plan 2022-2023 to attract more visitors to Siem Reap province.

H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and Permanent Vice President of Siem Reap-Angkor Tourism Development and Management Commission (TDMC), said in a ceremony to launch the action plan in Siem Reap province on Aug. 1.

Development of high-quality tourism products and services along with reasonable price, safety and warm hospitality in Siem Reap province’s six prior areas means to attract more national and international tourists to visit the province.

Strengthening service quality and visit package preparation for tourists is part of a campaign on “Visit Cambodia Year 2023”, emphasised the minister.

The six prior tourist attractions include Phnom Kulen National Park, Banteay Srei Protected Area, Angkor Heritage Site, Siem Reap Urban Area, Tonle Sap Lake Area, and the new Siem Reap tourist area.

According to H.E. Tea Seiha, Governor of Siem Reap province, during the first semester of 2022, Siem Reap welcomed some 600,000 foreign tourists, up 1,025 percent, and over 1 million local tourists, up 798 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

Siem Reap is expected to receive over 2 million national and 100,000 foreign visitors in 2022 and 4 million national and 500,000 foreign visitors in 2023, he added.
