H.E. Khieu Kanharith Encourages Sharpening of Financial Reporting

Minister of Information H.E. Khieu Kanharith has encouraged journalism expertise in covering analytical financial stories in Cambodia.

H.E. Khieu Kanharith highlighted the notice in his recent address at a roundtable discussion on the new role of media and financial journalists in the sustained and rapid development of Cambodia’s economy.

To become a good financial reporter, said H.E. Khieu Kanharith, a lot of reading and research for a broad knowledge on the matter as well as strong networking with economists is essential.

Despite what was said, the minister appreciated that media institutions have so far invited technical experts to analyse economic issues.

The roundtable discussion was organised by the Caixin Academy of Journalism at InterContinental Hotel here in Phnom Penh on Monday to align local media mainstream with the emerging context of the country.

Cambodia has to date 358 local language newspapers and 41 foreign language ones, 35 journalist associations, 80 radio stations and 24 television channels – including the cable networks. 21 foreign news agencies and TVs are based in Cambodia.
