H.E. Prak Sokhonn: Cambodia Is Ready to Work with the U.S. in All Sectors

Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn has affirmed Cambodia's readiness to work with the new U.S. government to further strengthen and expand the bilateral cooperation in all sectors between both countries.

The Cambodian top diplomat made the affirmation while meeting with visiting Mr. W. Patrick Murphy, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, at the ministry office in Phnom Penh yesterday afternoon, H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA-IC), told reporters after the meeting.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn also laid stress on the good relations between MFA-IC and the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia.

The Cambodian foreign minister considered the visit of Mr. W. Patrick Murphy a good chance to discuss bilateral cooperation, regional issues and other issues.

Both sides also discussed regional and international issues of common interests, including the Korean Peninsula issue.

As a state party to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, Cambodia called for the elimination of nuclear weapons in the region and the respect of the resolutions of the UN Security Council, according to H.E. Prak Sokhonn.
