Half a Million Cars Are on the Roads in Cambodia

AKP Phnom Penh, Cambodia has to date a total of half million cars across the country, while the annual import of the product has increased from 30,000 to 40,000 lately.

Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol shared the figure with reporters after chairing a recent opening of a vehicle technical control centre here in Phnom Penh.

Despite the increase of the cars, said the minister, Cambodia has only 14 vehicle technical control centres, and three mobile car controllers.

More than 234,000 cars were brought for technical check-up in 2016, but about 216,000 have so far been recorded having fulfilled the service this year.

H.E. Sun Chanthol encouraged car owners to have their car checked in a timely manner in order to avoid unnecessary road accidents, particularly when more and more cars are on the roads.
