His Majesty the King Flies for Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia is heading to Beijing, the People’s Republic of China for the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics and related activities.
The monarch was seen off at Phnom Penh International Airport this morning by Cambodian top leaders, including Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate; Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, and Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen as well as many other senior government officials and royal family members.
Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wentian was also present on the occasion.
During the His Majesty the King’s absence, Samdech Say Chhum will act as the Acting Head of State.
His Majesty the King will join with at least 32 foreign heads of state/government, members of royal families and heads of international organisations, including Russian President H.E. Vladimir Putin, Singapore President H.E. Halimah Yacob and Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
The 2022 Winter Olympics, officially the XXIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Beijing 2022, is an international winter multi-sport event scheduled to take place from Feb. 4-20, 2022 in Beijing and venues near neighbouring towns of Yanqing and Chongli in the People’s Republic of China.
His Majesty the King will return home on Feb. 5, 2022.
