His Majesty the King Wants Arbour Day to Be in Cambodians’ Heart

His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has asked all his compatriots to keep the Arbour Day in their heart.

While presiding over the celebration of the Arbour Day in Kratie province this morning, the monarch also wanted the event to become a tradition of solidarity in planting trees, in preserving and protecting forest resources and wildlife.

His Majesty the King expressed his congratulations to the Royal Government of Cambodia for leading the country to be a member of International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, and Asian Forest Cooperation Organisation.

Moreover, His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni reminded the importance of natural forests to biodiversity and eco-system and urged for attention to tree planting.

His Majesty the King also encouraged all newlyweds to grow trees at the wedding park - a national park established by the Forest Administration.

On the occasion, some 13,135 young trees of rare and luxurious species were planted on an area of 10 hectares.
