Hong Kong: Very Potential Trading Partner of Cambodia

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is Cambodia’s sixth biggest trading partner and fifth top import destination.

Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hor Namhong stressed the key role of the region when attending the celebration of 20th anniversary of its handover from Britain to China organised recently in Phnom Penh.

For 2016 alone, according to the Cambodian DPM, the volume of bilateral trading between Cambodia and Hong Kong was US$731 million.

He added that currently there are over 80 Hong Kong’s garment and footwear factories operating in Cambodia, employing some 35,000 Cambodians.

H.E. Hor Namhong was optimistic that Cambodia will benefit more from trading relationship with the region because it geographically sits as a potential transit hub with Europe and the United States of America.

Taking the opportunity, H.E. Hor Namhong on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia congratulated Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on the 20th anniversary.
