Households Affected by Rain and Windstorms in Kampong Thom Receive Assistance

Households affected by recent rain and windstorms in Kampong Thom province have received relief assistance from the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC).

Vice Honorary President of Kampong Thom branch of Cambodian Red Cross H.E. Mrs. Kieu Sina Chea Chanto � representing Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of CRC � dispatched the assistance to the affected households.

According to Santuk District Governor Mr. Yos Panharith, the rain and windstorms happened late last week affecting 53 households in Boeung Lovea commune, Santuk district of Kampong Thom.

The natural incident, he added, damaged five houses and de-roofed a building in a local pagoda. Two children were severely injured by the lightning.

H.E. Mrs. Kieu Sina Chea Chanto shared her sadness for the loss and re-confirmed the community that the Cambodian Red Cross will always be there for everyone in difficult times.

Each of the affected households received a plastic tent canvas, a number of food items and a package of financial support from 150,000 to 200,000 Riel (about US$37.5 to 50), depending on severity of their respective damage.
