ietnam’s 13th legislature kicks off last gathering with “huge workload”: official

The last session of the Vietnam’s National Assembly (NA)’s 13th tenure kicked off in capital Hanoi on Monday, with “a huge workload and many important contents,” said NA chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

Hung made the remark at the opening ceremony of the 11th session of the 13th NA, which is scheduled to last till April 12, 2016.

According to Hung, during the session, the country’s NA will review and adopt seven bills including Law on Access to Information, amended Law on Conclusion, Accession and Implementation of International Treaties, amended Law on Media, amended Law on Child Protection, Care and Education, and amended Law on Pharmacy, among others.

In addition, the legislature will also adopt an agreement on visa issuance between Vietnam and the United States.

Meanwhile, the five-year socio-economic development plan during 2016-2020 period will be approved during the session, said Hung.

Moreover, Vietnamese legislature is expected to fulfill the organizational apparatus of the country’s state agencies at the session, said Hung, adding that the country’s NA will review and approve on the dismissal of incumbent top leaders as well as elect and ratify new leadership positions, including president, prime minister and NA chairperson.
