PUTRAJAYA: The presence of renowned Muslim scholars within and outside the country to deliver lectures and enhance the understanding of the authentic Hadith of Al-Bukhari reflects Malaysia’s commitment to preserving the heritage of Islamic knowledge and upholding the values of unity among the ummah, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar. He said the organisation of the International Sama’ Hadith Sahih Al-Bukhari 2024, which kicked off today and runs until Nov 21, aligns with the government’s aspiration to foster unity and brotherhood within the Muslim community.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, “We always honour knowledge and celebrate the presence of scholars…Your presence here is meaningful to us in Malaysia, as having you is a source of pride and blessings,” he said during his speech at the opening of the event hosted by agencies under the Religious Affairs Department at Putra Mosque here this evening. The inaugural event, themed “Menyemai Ilmu,
Mengukuh Perpaduan, Menjulang Negara MADANI,” brings together 16 prominent scholars and intellectuals from Malaysia and several countries, including Indonesia, Syria, Egypt, India, and Tunisia.

Mohd Na’im said that the programme is the government’s effort to strengthen the understanding and appreciation of the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s hadith among the Muslim community, as well as to honour the intellectual heritage of past scholars. He said it also aims to embrace the teachings of Islam, which place great importance on knowledge-both spiritual and worldly-as the foundation for building human civilisation.

He called on the Muslim community around the world to firmly adhere to the principle of brotherhood emphasised in the Quran and sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW. He also expressed hope that such events would continue to be organised, ensuring that Malaysia remains a model Muslim country that prioritises knowledge, unity, and progress across various fields.

After the opening ceremony, Mohd Na’im, along with mo
re than 1,000 congregants, performed solat hajat (prayer of need) for the success of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s mission at the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh tomorrow.
