Japan Affirms to Strengthen Cooperation in Cambodia’s Water Resource Management

Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have affirmed enhanced cooperation in water resource.

The affirmation was made in yesterday’s meeting between Minister of MOWRAM H.E. Lim Kean Hor and Mr. Yuichi Sugano, Chief Representative of JICA Cambodia Office, at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh.

According to the ministry’s news release, the purpose of the meeting was to introduce Mr. Doi Yoshihilo, newly appointed Policy Adviser on Irrigation and Drainage of JICA to the minister.

Both sides focused on priority affairs in water resource sector and Japan’s contribution to the enhancement of effective management and water development in Cambodia.

Mr. Sugano Yuichi thanked MOWRAM and H.E. Minister in particular for the facilitation and good cooperation with JICA so far and in the future.

From his side, H.E. Lim Kean Hor thanked the Government of Japan and Japanese people, through Mr. Sugano Yuichi, for active support to Cambodia’s development in all sectors, especially water resource management.

Rehabilitation and development of irrigation system, water use of river basin, human resource training, technical support, and beyond have been supported through development projects of JICA in Cambodia.

The assistance plays an important role in boosting the Kingdom’s economic growth and sustainable progress, underlined the minister.
