Japan Donates Over US$430,000 for Irrigation System Rehabilitation and Food Security Promotion in Cambodia

AKP Phnom Penh, Japan has donated an amount of US$430,832 for the rehabilitation of irrigation systems and promotion of food security in Cambodia.

Official hand-over of the grant took place late last week under the chairmanship of Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi and funding recipients at the Embassy here in Phnom Penh.

As outlined by the Ambassador, US$172,721 of the grant is given to provincial departments of water resources and meteorology in Pursat and Svay Rieng provinces to rehabilitate Kandeang and Ta Por irrigation systems.

The rest of the grant, he added, goes to development organisation to promote agricultural activities, food security and nutrition in Kampong Chhnang province.

The donation derives from the so-called Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects of Japan (KUSANONE Grant).
