Japan Extends More Grant Aid to Cambodia

Cambodia and Japan are going to sign here tomorrow morning the Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussions on the extension of Grant Aid up to the amount of US$7 million, according to a press release of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA-IC) issued this morning.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of MFA-IC, and H.E. Horinouchi Hidehisa, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, will be the signatories, it pointed out.

The grant aid will be used to implement the economic and social development programme, in the framework of which, the Government of Japan will provide ballot boxes as well as other necessary equipment to the National Election Committee (NEC) for the upcoming general election to be held in July, said the same source.

Japan's continued assistance to Cambodia, as a whole, and to NEC, in particular, represents Japan's commitment to help the Kingdom of Cambodia to achieve economic growth and sustainable development, underlined the press release.
