Japan Extends Over US$660,000 to Support Cambodia’s Education Sector

The Government of Japan has agreed to provide US$664,994 in total to promote inclusive education in Kandal province and develop four-year university of physical education course, under the framework, the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects.
According to a press release of the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia issued this morning, US$266,428 of the total amount will be given to the Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) to implement the “Project for Promotion of Inclusive Education (IE) for Children with Disabilities by Enhancing the Practices in Model Area and Developing IE Evaluation System (Year 3)”.
The rest, US$398,566, will be for the Non-Profit Organisation Hearts of Gold to implement the ‘Project on Developing four-year University of Physical Education Course at National Institute of Physical Education and Sport (Year 3)’.
Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. MIKAMI Masahiro signed the grant contracts with the representatives of the two organisations, and he expressed his gratitude for the two organisations to take part in the initiatives of the government of Japan.
“While large-scale ODA projects like Sihanoukville port, National Road No.5, and 20 billion Yen Loan for combatting COVID-19 are often focused in the media, it is still one of the priorities for the Government of Japan to work with local governments and Japanese NGOs in order to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in provinces. We believe that these grant assistances will improve the quality of life for people in each project area,” underlined the embassy.
