Japan-funded Clean Water Supply System in Kampot Breaks Ground

The construction of clean water supply system in Kampot city, Kampot province, began on June 13 under the presidency of Cambodia’s Senior Minister and Minister of Industry and Handicraft H.E. Cham Prasidh and H.E. Yuji Kumamaru, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Cham Prasidh said the Water Supply System Expansion Project in Kampong province would cost over US$21 million funded by a Japanese grant.

The project includes a production chain capable of producing some 7,500 cubic meters of water a day, water quality experimental materials, clean water supply system of some 88.60 kilometers, and clean water distribution to poor households in 900 places.

The construction project is expected to complete in August 2018 and give benefits to people in Kampot city and Kampong Samrong and Prey Khmum communes.
