Japan Pledges to Continue Building Cambodian Blue Helmet Troops’ Capacity

The Government of Japan has pledged to continue assisting Cambodia in training its blue helmet troops.

The commitment was made by visiting State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan H.E. Nakane Kazuyuki during a meeting here on Jan. 29 with Cambodian Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn, H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation told reporters.

Besides, the Government of Japan was also committed to further strengthen and expand the cooperation with Cambodia in other fields, including national defence and ancient temple preservation.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn congratulated the opening of the Consular Office of Japan in the cultural province of Siem Reap, stressing that it reflects Japan’s confidence on the situation in Cambodia and will contribute importantly to further tightening the tourism, investment and trade relations between both nations.

Taking the opportunity, H.E. Prak Sokhonn informed his guest about the Royal Government of Cambodia’s strong determination to defend the country’s independence and sovereignty and to maintain peace and stability for the national election on July 29, 2018.
