Japan Pledges To Support Capacity Building of Cambodian Blue Helmet Troops

The Government of Japan has expressed its strong will to continue supporting the capacity building of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) in their peacekeeping missions under the UN umbrella.

The commitment was made known by Mr. Kamoshida Naoaki, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, while attending the closing ceremony of civil engineer under capacity building project for UN Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO) at the Training School for Multinational Peacekeeping Forces in Kampong Speu province late last week.

Mr. Kamoshida Naoaki highly evaluated capacity of Cambodian blue helmet troops and their achievements in the past decade.

Addressing at the event, Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mines and Explosive Remnants of War Clearance (NPMEC), thanked the Government and Ministry of Defense of Japan for their continued assistance to Cambodia, especially for their annual support to RCAF’s capacity building for UNPKO.

The above-mentioned training course lasted for 12 days with 39 trainees and 8 Japanese trainers.
