Japan To Help Build Capacity of Cambodian Blue Helmet Troops

Japan has expressed her intention to assist Cambodia in building the capacity of her blue helmet troops through training on civil engineering and IT skills.

The intention was made known by Mr. Arifumi Kumano, a senior officer of Japan’s Ministry of Defence, while meeting with Lt. Gen. Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Force Management, Mine and Explosive Remnant of War Clearance (NPMEC) on Dec. 6.

The training, said Mr. Arifumi Kumano, will be held in February 2017.

Gen. Sem Sovanny thanked the Japanese government and Defence Ministry for their attention to capacity building of Cambodian blue helmet troops.

Taking the opportunity, Gen. Sem Sovanny suggested the visit exchange with the Japanese side as well as the dispatch of Cambodian troops to get training in Japan.
