Japan will open a consulate in Siem Reap cultural province to encourage more Japanese tourists to Cambodia after the recent launch of direct flight between the two countries.
The information was shared by Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi while meeting with Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn, at the ministry office in Phnom Penh on Dec. 27.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn welcomed the appointment of the Japanese ambassador and briefed him on the economic growth and new developments in Cambodia, while H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi appreciated the development in Cambodia and the progress in the relations between both countries, H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reporters after the meeting.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn laid stress on the successful computerised voter registration and the preparation for the commune/Sangkat council election 2017 and national election in 2018, and thanked the Japanese side for their assistance to the election process in Cambodia.
