JC International (Cambodia) Airlines Officially Launched

JC (Cambodia) International Airlines, a Chinese-backed carrier, launched in Phnom Penh recently its first flight services in Cambodia with the use of two Airbus 320 aircrafts.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tong Lecheng, President of JC (Cambodia) International Airlines, said the company is planning to import three more aircraft this year to serve flights across Cambodia and to ASEAN countries, as well as China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Macao.

H.E. So Mara, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Tourism, welcomed the new company, saying it will contribute to boosting Cambodia's tourism industry and aviation sector, and creating jobs.

In 2016, Cambodia welcomed over 5 million foreign tourists, of them some 900,000 visitors are Chinese, making China the 2nd biggest tourism market for Cambodia, after Vietnam.

Cambodia is expected to attract about 5.4 million foreign tourists this year and the figure would reach 7 million in 2020, bringing a total revenue of around US$5 billion and generating some 1 million direct jobs.
