Johor Bahru Hosts “Explorasi JB Lestari” Programme Ahead of Asia Pacific Climate Week

JOHOR BAHRU – Forty media practitioners from various agencies took part in the “Eksplorasi JB Lestari” programme, a prelude to the upcoming Asia Pacific Climate Week (APCW), scheduled from November 13 to 17. Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) Mayor, Datuk Mohd Noorazam Datuk Osman, stated that this event marked the commencement of APCW. He mentioned that the media participants were part of the Johor Media Club and were selected for the inaugural edition of this programme.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Johor Bahru has the honor of hosting the APCW and is preparing to welcome over 2,000 local and international attendees. In light of this significant event, the city plans to implement various low carbon and sustainability initiatives.

SWM Environment Corporate General Manager Norlisam Mohd Nordin explained that the “Eksplorasi JB Lestari” programme serves as a platform to showcase the company’s efforts in communication, education, and public awareness. This includes highlighting the Sustainable Waste Zone at the Sultan Ismail Library in Johor Bahru.

Participants in the “Eksplorasi JB Lestari” engaged in activities across ten groups, exploring five checkpoints. These included the Sustainability Corner and Sustainable Waste Zone at the Sultan Ismail Library, ERT Azizah Vocational College, MBJB Nursery SITE, MBJB Forest City, and the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre.

The programme featured a total prize money of RM5,000 and was conducted in collaboration with several organizations, including the Iskandar Regional Development Authority, ERT Azizah Vocational College, Life Line Clothing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
