Kampot Province’s Pepper Remains a Big Market for Export

Kampot pepper, the well-known brand for Cambodia’s pepper, remains a major exported product, as its price is growing for three consecutive years, from 2014 to 2016, Mr. NguonSunlay, President of Kampot Pepper Promotion Association (KPPA), told local media recently.

In 2016, only 60 tons of Kampot pepper (white, red and black) were exported, while the demand for the pepper is high – an estimated 200 tons from the EU, and over 100 tons from the U.S., Korea and Japan, underlined the KPPA President.

Beside Kampot pepper, which has already obtained the geographical indication (GI) status, pepper produced in Kampong Cham, ThbongKhmum, Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri provinces is also popular for export to Vietnam, added Mr. NguonSunlay.
