King, Queen-Mother Express Condolences over Demise of Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An

His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk have sent separate condolence letters to the family of late Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Office of the Council of Ministers.

The passing away of Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An is a great loss for the nation and the Cambodian people, said the Cambodian monarchs in their respective letters dated Mar. 16, recalling the active contribution of Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An in bringing about peace, stability, national unity, development in all sectors to the country, in defending democracy and establishing good international cooperation, as well as in maintaining national independence and territorial integrity.

The King and Queen-Mother also appreciated Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An's participation in boosting Buddhism and his loyalty to the throne.

"May the soul of late Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An rest in peace," they added.

Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An passed away on Mar. 15 at 18:32 at a hospital in Beijing, China after a long battle with illness. His body is currently kept at his residence in Phnom Penh for mourning and traditional ritual ceremony, until the cremation on Mar. 19 at Botum Vattey Pagoda.
