KOICA & Soonchunhyang University Medical Centre Hold “1st Cambodia-Korea Joint Conference on ENT Medicine” in Cambodia

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) together with the Soonchunhyang University Medical Centre have organised the 1st Cambodia-Korea Joint Conference on ENT (Ears Nose Throat) Medicinewith the Cambodian Ministry of Health, and Preah Ang Duong Hospital.

Taking place at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel & Residence on Aug. 15, the conference was presided over by H.E. Professor Mam Bunheng, Cambodian Minister of Health, H.E. Oh Nak-young, South Korean Ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Rho Hyun-Jun, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, Professor Lou Lykheang, Director of Preah Ang Duong Hospital, Professor Yoo, Byung Wook, Project Manager, Project Management Consulting, Soonchunhyang University Medical Centre, and Professor Shin Eung Jin, President of Korean Community for Service in Cambodia.

According to a KOICA's press release, the objective of this conference is to share and to exchange each other's experiences and skills especially in the ENT field.

During the conference, the Korean side explained about the project overview, Korean ENT, ENT Medicine, and ENT future medicine, and Cambodian side presented about Cambodian ENT, etc.

The Government of the Republic of Korea, through KOICA, has provided US$8 million to Cambodia for the project Capacity Building of ENT Centre in Preah Ang Duong Hospital with implementation period from 2018 to 2022.

A five-story building will be constructed in Preah Ang Duong Hospital and installed with advanced equipment for diagnosis, treatment and operation, to help improve medical service of hospital.

Besides upgrading physical infrastructure, the capacity of specialist doctors and staff will be advanced via provision of in-service training programme and transferring advanced knowledge and sharing experience from Korean doctors.
