Korean Investors To Tap into Agro-Industry of Cambodia

The ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) dispatched an Investment and Market Research Mission to Cambodia, which composed of representatives from leading Korean companies and SMEs, last week to gain up-to-date information on investment policies, incentives, and projects in the agro-industry of Cambodia, said a press release of AKC.

The Mission took part in the Investment Promotion Seminar, industrial visits, and one-on-one business meetings during the Programme organised in cooperation with the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), said H.E. Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of AKC.

With a stable GDP growth of 7 percent and investment-friendly policies of the government, Cambodia is gaining attention as an attractive investment destination for Korean companies. In line with the Cambodia Industrial Development Policy 2015-2025, the ASEAN-Korea Centre has organised its Investment Mission Programme in the agro-industry, one of the country’s prioritised sectors for industrial development. I hope this Program would serve as a platform not only for the Korean investors to explore new business opportunities in Cambodia, but also for the country to accelerate its industrial development, underlined H.E. Kim Young-sun.

As part of the Programme, one-on-one business meetings were conducted to offer the Korean business delegation with an opportunity to find possible partners for further businesses. The Mission also visited Phnom Penh Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and the Cambodia Rice Federation to gain first-hand information on recent development in the agro-industry of Cambodia and explore potential cooperation with the local players. Furthermore, Korean companies that have successfully invested in Cambodia will share their experiences and success stories with the Mission during the Business Consultation Meeting, it concluded.
