Korean NA to Ratify Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement in Mid-2022

The National Assembly (NA) of the Republic of Korea will push for the ratification of the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA), possibly in mid-2022, said H.E. Park Byeong-seug, the Korean NA Speaker, quoted by H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Cambodian Premier.
In a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen in Seoul, RoK this afternoon on the sidelines of the World Summit 2022, H.E. Park Byeong-seug said as the NA Speaker, he will personally work on this issue.
He expressed his strong belief that with the CKFTA and the RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) coming into force early last month, the trade and investment cooperation between Cambodia and RoK will be further boosted.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen told H.E. Park Byeong-seug that the Cambodian NA had already ratified the CKFTA, hoping that the Korean NA will do so in order to enhance the bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and RoK, as well as to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen suggested the visit exchange between both countries’ parliaments, particularly between women and young parliamentarians.
For investment, he raised about his “Plus One” formula by asking the Korean companies investing in Thailand and Vietnam to extend their investment to Cambodia.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister thanked the RoK for maintaining its good relations with Cambodia, especially the people-to-people connectivity despite the COVID-19 crisis.
