Land Mine Death Tool Remarkably Decreased

Annual landmine death toll in Cambodia has dropped to about 100 since 2016, from over 800 between 2000 and 2005.

The improvement was shared recently by General Director of the General Directorate of Intelligence H.E. Hun Manith during a ceremony to incorporate Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC)'s staff into the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

Royal Government of Cambodia, he continued, considers mine clearance activity as one of the country's priorities and has been working hard on it, particularly to bring down the causality of the war remains.

According to the record of CMAC, nearly 2.7 million mines and unexplored ordnances have been identified and destroyed since 1992.

The endeavour committed by the government and its technical team, as a result, has freed over 943 square kilometre of Cambodia's land from landmines.
