Lao Ministry of Finance Delegation’s FMIS Exposure Visit to Cambodia

Delegation of Lao Ministry of Finance conducted a three-day (Aug. 23-25) learning visit on financial management information system (FMIS) to Cambodia.

The visit led by Lao Vice Minister of Finance H.E. Dr. Atsphangthong Siphandone followed Cambodia’s successful implementation of FMIS phase one.

H.E. Dr. Hean Sahib, Economy and Finance Secretary of State in charge of the FMIS working group shared with the visiting delegation key factors behind the successful rollout of the system.

As underlined by the secretary of state, capacity building, development of support frameworks, reflection and learning are the driving forces behind the achievement, which is the backbone of financial reform.

H.E. Dr. Hean Sahib also acknowledged the support from development partners especially the European Union and the World Bank.

With the phase-one FMIS qualified as ‘Satisfactory’, he added, Cambodia since early 2017 has been carrying on the phase two of the system.

H.E. Dr. Atsphangthong Siphandone thanked Cambodian side for the sharing useful for his team.
