Le Bokor Palace Re-emerged As Best Vacation Spot in Cambodia

Remains of Cambodia's historical hotel standing out among its peers in 1920s are re-emerging as Le Bokor Palace the country's best spot for retreat and vacation of all.

According to a recent press release from Sokha Hotels & Resorts firm investing in restoring it, the first section of the hotel with breath-taking view on a cliff at the top of famous Bokor Mountain in the coastal Kampot province will be officially opened on Feb. 9.

As cited in the source, the hotel's general manager Mr. Frugere F. Philippe underlined that, Le Bokor Palace is a historic hotel that is our country's treasure, our company has fully refurbished the building, preserving the original features and recreating its colonial interior design, with bathroom fixtures imported from Italy and ornate floor tiles from Spain.

After extensive renovation of this grand colonial building, Le Bokor Palace includes 36 tastefully appointed luxurious rooms and suites. Its two restaurants capture the elegance of the hotel's historic past, with Swiss and Cambodian chefs are preparing both 100 years of renascence menu and Royal Khmer cuisine with freshest organic vegetables and ingredient that grown nearby organic farm, he said.

The name Le Bokor Palace, according to the release, is maintained and reserved as the historical French colonial and Preah Karuna Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk.

Historically, Le Bokor Palace was inaugurated on Feb. 14, 1925 indeed the Valentine's Day to host royalty and elites for decades.

In early 1962, Late King-Father Norodom Sihanouk revived the hotel to serve members of high-ranking officials, governments and wealthy business people; and it was also one of his favourite vacation site.

Like most of the places all over Cambodia, Le Bokor Palace was severely affected by Cambodia's civil wars in 1970s and consequently forgotten.

Now, the reincarnated Le Bokor Palace is a four-storey building neatly designed with powerful presence, embellished with decks and Italian-style pergolas.

With the weather on top of Bokor Mountain ranges between 17 C 24 C for whole year round, staying at Le Bokor Palace will provide one the access to spectacular of mountain lake, beautiful waterfall, various shapes of rocks at the so-called '100 rice field', and a unique shape of rock symbolising a gate between heaven and earth.
