Malaysian Foreign Ministry: No Public Programme Held during Sam Rainsy’s Stay in Malaysia

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia has issued a press release reassuring that there was no public programme held during the self-imposed exile Sam Rainsy’s stay in Malaysia.

“With regard to the presence of the former Chief Opposition Member of Cambodia Sam Rainsy in Malaysia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to reiterate that the Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim was not informed of his arrival to this country,” said the press release dated May 31.

“Nonetheless, Sam Rainsy has left Malaysia this morning (May 31) and no public programme was held during his stay here,” underlined the source.

At the inauguration ceremony of Russey Keo Bridge and Flyover in Phnom Penh yesterday, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen thanked his Malaysian counterpart after the Malaysian authorities had dissolved the plan of a group of exiled politicians to hold a meeting in Malaysia.
