MDEC Honors 37 Entities for Contributions to Malaysia’s Digital Economy

KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD), through the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), today recognized 37 individuals and companies for their significant achievements and contributions to the growth of Malaysia’s digital economy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MDX 2023 Awards Night celebrated various entities in the digital economy landscape. This included recognitions for local and international organizations across several categories. Notable recipients included Carsome Sdn Bhd, receiving the Overall Top Investor for a Local Company (Digital Technology) award, Les’ Copaque Production Sdn Bhd for the same category in Digital Content, and Animonsta Studios Sdn Bhd, also in Digital Content.

The event also honored DHL Information Services (Asia-Pacific) Sdn Bhd and Infineon Technologies (Kulim) Sdn Bhd as the Overall Top Investors for a Foreign Company. FoodPanda (Delivery Hero Malaysia Sdn Bhd) was recognized for its Long-Standing Partnership in Advancing the Adoption of Sharing Economy Models – Foreign Platform.

The awards ceremony was officially conducted by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, with MDEC chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh in attendance. MDEC stated that the MDX 2023 Awards Night was part of the successful Malaysia Digital Expo (MDX) 2023. This event aligns with the country’s ambitions to become a leading digital hub in Southeast Asia, following the principles of the Ekonomi Madani framework.

MDEC highlighted the impressive growth of Malaysia’s digital industry exports, which have surged in recent years. In the first half of 2022 alone, exports exceeded RM20.2 billion, achieving 81 percent of the total performance in 2021. The digital sector in Malaysia has become increasingly attractive for investment, securing over RM37.4 billion this year as of August, from both domestic and international companies.
