Measures Against Overloaded Carriages

Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol has recently met with the management of police and royal armed forces to discuss measures to ban overloaded carriage, especially by nonstandard renovation of trucks.

According to H.E. Sun Chanthol, excessively heavy carriage has cost the Royal Government of Cambodia about US$180 million annually on rehabilitation of damaged infrastructures.

One major contribution to the overloaded carriage, added H.E. Minister, is the noncompliance with standard loads by local garages when renovating trucks for the said purpose.

Joint task forces will visit unregistered garages and educate them on the set standard loads as well as impacts of and legal action against defiance of the regulation.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport allows three month period for the existing nonstandard trucks to review their compliance.
