Mine Authority Encourages More U.S. Assistance for its Operation

Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) has encouraged the United States of America to continue its humanitarian support for mine clearance in Cambodia for the next six years.

Senior Minister H.E. Ly Thuch, CMAA Vice President, underlined the proposal when receiving U.S. Embassy official in charge of politics Mr. Saptarshi Basu at his office here in Phnom Penh yesterday.

The meeting focused primarily on Cambodia-U.S. cooperation in demining operation, particularly the cluster bombs dropped by the superpower in the Kingdom in the 1970s.

Taking the opportunity, H.E. Ly Thuch spoke highly the U.S. assistance in the area so far, stressing that further support from the world power will ensure Cambodia's realisation of the status a mine-free country by 2025.
