Minister Flags Dengue Fever Prevention and Care

Minister of Health has urged thorough health care provision among concerned and safety practice of the public against dengue fever amidst increasing threat of its seasonal infection in Cambodia.

The minister, H.E. Mam Bunheng, made the note yesterday when conducting an inspection visit to Siem Reap – one of the provinces with highest number of cases.

The minister visited the Kantha Bopha children’s hospital and a health centre in Sangkat Kork Chak, and talked to health workers and the residents on prevention and treatment of dengue fever.

Local health authorities need to constantly advise the residents in their respective areas on both the prevention and access and availability of the treatment service, he underlined.

According to Dr. Kros Sarath, Director of Siem Reap Provincial Health Department, the province recorded a high number of dengue fever cases, including the cases referred from nearby provinces to the health service in Siem Reap.

During the last 24 weeks, the province logged a total of 583 cases of dengue fever which is about 28 percent increase compared to the same period last year, however, there was no death, he added.
