Minister of Commerce Receives Representatives of Uber

Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak received at the ministry office in Phnom Penh late last week representatives of American wordwide online transportation network company called Uber.

According to the Ministry of Commerce's news release, the representatives expressed their impression with Cambodia's new market, but they said they need to understand more about economic situation, people's living standard and other challenges first.

H.E. Minister expressed his warm welcome to the Uber's investment plan and shared with his guests the growing number of mobile subscriptions and the rate of economic growth. He also stressed the importance of Cambodia's E-Commerce Law (when it is put into enforcement) and benefits of E-Payment, which are strongly related to Uber's business.

H.E. Pan Sorasak recommended Uber to register with the Ministry of Commerce and cooperate with other relevant parties like Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and Phnom Penh City Hall.

The Uber Technologies Inc. currently operates in over 66 countries and 545 cities worldwide
