Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon held talks here yesterday afternoon with Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi, according to the ministry's news release.
On the occasion, H.E. Ambassador noted the key contribution of agricultural sector in Cambodia's economic development, about 30 percent of GDP, and expressed the Government of Japan's will to support aquaculture projects and community-based agriculture projects in Cambodia.
H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi also informed H.E. Minister that Japan is focusing on ethanol production from cassava in Battambang province.
For his part, H.E. Veng Sakhon thanked profoundly the Government and people of Japan for their support to the development of Cambodia, and asked H.E. Ambassador to further help promoting Japanese investment in Cambodia, mainly in the agricultural sector.
