Minister of Public Works and Transport Receives a Delegation of House of Counsellors of Japan

Cambodian Senior Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport received here last Friday a Japanese delegation led by H.E. Iwai Shigeki, Member of the House of Counsellors.

According to a news release of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss accelerating the study and implementation of the expressway between Phnom Penh and Bavet, the development of a container terminal in the Sihanoukville Port, the implementation of Automatic Guideway Transit (AGT) project, the improvement of public bus management and operation, and the improvement of the sewage treatment system in Cambodia.

On the occasion, H.E. Iwai Shigeki expressed Japan’s strong support and commitment to contribute to the further development of Cambodia as well as improve and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

For his part, H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed Cambodia’s gratitude for the continued support and cooperation between the two nations. He asked H.E. Iwai Shigeki to assist in the formulation of the country’s Logistics Master Plan, and in the introduction of a port EDI (Electronic data interchange) system, which will help facilitate formality procedures and waterway transport within the country.
