Ministry of Justice and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish and operationalise Cambodia’s first commercial court.
The signing ceremony took place recently in Phnom Penh between Minister of Justice H.E. Koeut Rith and ADB Country Director for Cambodia Ms. Jyotsana Varma.
Through the MoU, ADB will help prepare a legal framework to ensure the establishment of a transparent, efficient, and credible commercial court in Cambodia.
The establishment of a transparent, quality and fair commercial court will enhance public trust and good investment environment in Cambodia, which is priority of the ministry, said H.E. Koeut Rith.
The minister thanked ADB for its technical support to the ministry for the establishment of the commercial court and capacity building of Cambodian judges on commercial legal procedures.
