Ministry of Agriculture Sees Opportunities with Vietnamese Cashew Nut Market

Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has encouraged Cambodian farmers to maximise quality and quantity of their cashew nuts for export to Vietnam, according to local media report.

The call followed an agreement inked by the ministry’s senior official and representative of Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) recently here in Phnom Penh.

The Cambodian official was positive that Cambodian cashew nut producers will see this as a good opportunity, wherein they can replace product plants of low market price with cashew nut farming.

As underlined by the same source, in the agreement signed, the Vietnamese association will identify Cambodian producers to receive technical support to promote and effectively collect their cashew nuts.

Cambodia currently has nearly 64,800 hectares of cashew nut plantation and the farming continues to sustain its good market price.
