Ministry of Commerce Generates US$54 Million in 2017

AKP Phnom Penh, Ministry of Commerce has generated over 220 billion Riel (about US$54 million) as national income for 2017, according to H.E. Pan Sorasak.

H.E. Minister shared the update during the ministry’s annual work review and planning gathering taking place here in Phnom Penh on Thursday under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers H.E. Bin Chhin.

Minister of Commerce credited the achievement to the hard work of his staff and the ministry’s reform and decentralisation, bringing its services as close as possible to the people.

The effort, he added, has enabled stronger trade performance and continued to attract foreign investors to Cambodia.

The ministry’s record shows that in 2017, Cambodia has increased exports by 20 percent or almost US$9,560 million through the granted free-tariff system.

Also, it has granted import licenses for an amount of US$2,087,844 (up by 335 percent from 2016) and export licenses of US$9,123,397 (up by 37 percent from the previous year).

Witnessing encouraging sharing, Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Bin Chhin congratulated the commerce minister as well as his officials for the progress.
