More Ivories Seized

Remaining ivory pieces illegally imported into Cambodia two years ago have been confiscated at the international autonomous port in Preah Sihanouk province.

According to Mr. Kin Ly, the Head of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port's Customs and Excise Department, the provincial authority decided to open the rest of BTM company's containers after the owner had not turned in to clarify the case for about two years.

The recently seized ivories smuggled into Cambodia weight 613.3 kilograms, adding to the previous 3,000.8 kilograms.

The opening of the remaining containers was done in accordance with legal procedure endorsed by the provincial court.

Relevant authorities will build on the additional recovery to file case against suspected company and those involved.
