More Promotion of MGC Asian Traditional Textiles Museum Encouraged to Attract More Tourists

Cambodia and India are committed to increasing the promotion of the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) Asian Traditional Textiles Museum to attract more tourists and encourage the active participation from countries.

The commitment was made in a board meeting of MGC Asian Traditional Textiles Museum co-chaired by H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts and President of Apsara National Authority and H.E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Indian Ambassador to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh on Mar. 30.

In the meeting, Cambodia and India agreed to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) draft and discussed the improvement of museum, especially through adding new collections of each country to the exhibition, and possible provision of funding sources to ensure the sustainability of the museum’s general operations.

Both sides encouraged the active participation of each countries in organising permanent or non-permanent exhibitions of their culture; and agreed to provide museum experts to train staff on duty at the museum.

The meeting also urged for smooth and effective cooperation to enhance the close cooperation environment between all stakeholders.

H.E. U Thit Linn Ohn, Ambassador of Myanmar to Cambodia and representatives of the Embassies of Thailand, Laos and Vietnam also participated in the meeting.
