More Than 4 Million Tourists Spend Khmer New Year Holiday in the Country

Over 4.18 million Cambodians and 65,694 foreign tourists toured different attraction sites in the country during the recent celebration of Khmer Traditional New Year, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

The figures showed an increase by 33.6 percent and 6.6 percent, respectively compared to the previous year, it added.

Those local and foreign tourists spent in total some US$200 million for their holidays, it pointed out.

Phnom Penh, the capital city, attracted about 26,314 visitors, while Siem Reap, the host province of the annual Angkor Sangkranta event, welcomed more than 1.18 million tourists; and the coastal provinces, some 227,056 tourists. Northern provinces got 181,779 tourists, and Battambang and its surrounding provinces, 491,030 tourists.
