MoU on Cambodian Rice Export to China To Be Signed This Weekend

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the People’s Republic of China will reach a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the export of Cambodian milled rice to Chinese markets.

The MoU will be signed on April 27 during Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen’s official visit to Beijing, China, to attend the 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Under the MoU, China will buy 400,000 tonnes of Cambodian milled rice from August 2019 to the end of December 2020, according to a press release from the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce.

The signing of this MoU aims to promote the export of Cambodian milled rice to the international markets, especially China.

Both countries had successfully implemented their first MoU signed in January 2018 according to which 300,000 tons of Cambodian rice had been shipped to China.
