MOWRAM: 10 Provinces May Suffer Flash Floods Next Week

Ten provinces in Cambodia may face with flash floods from Oct. 9 to 13 due to low pressure system and southwest monsoon, bringing rains to almost throughout the country, said an announcement of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM).

The ten provinces include Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Kampong Thom, Kampong Speu, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap and Battambang.

According to the weather forecast, rainfall will continue to have at low and high land areas, as well as at coastal areas from Oct. 5 to 12, said Mr. Um Rina, Director of MOWRAM's Department of Meteorology.

Mr. Um Rina thus called on people to keep high vigilance, adding that MOWRAM will follow up the situation, deliver subsequent information, take measures and prepare human forces, materials and machinery for timely rescue.

Cambodia has gone through 18 among the forecast 25 to 27 storms this year that may cause some flash floods.
