NA President Receives a Delegation of Japan-Mekong Parliamentary Friendship Association

Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of National Assembly (NA), received a visiting delegation of Japan-Mekong Parliamentary Friendship Association led by its President Mr. Ryu Shionoya, at the NA Palace on Jan. 16.

Samdech Heng Samrin expressed warm welcome to the visit of the delegation, saying that the visit showed the enhancement of relations and expansion of close cooperation between Japan-Mekong Parliamentary Friendship Association and Cambodia's NA.

The NA president highly valued Japan-Mekong Parliamentary Friendship Association's key role as a bridge in contribution to responding to the needs of people living along the Mekong River which is in line with the Tokyo Strategy 2015 for Mekong-Japan Cooperation.

Moreover, Samdech Heng Samrin requested the association to continue supporting Cambodia and encouraging more Japanese tourists and investors to Cambodia.

For his part, Mr. Ryu Shionoya said that Japan has considered Cambodia as a priority among the Mekong countries, affirming that Japan will continue to contribute to Cambodia's economic, infrastructure and human resource development. He also pledged to convince more Japanese tourists and investors to Cambodia as well as to other Mekong countries.

Following on the same day, Mr. Ryu Shionoya also paid a courtesy visit to Samdech Say Chhum, President of the Senate, and Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
