NACD Destroys 126kg of Illicit Drugs

National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) has recently blazed some 126 kilogrammes of seized-illicit drugs to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed on June 26.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Gen. Ke Kim Yan, President of NACD, underlined harmful effects of drug users in Cambodia as well as the region and the world.

Even though Cambodia is not a drug producing country, it has been considerably victimised by illicit drug smuggling from other countries.

During the first five months of 2017, competent authorities cracked down 3,653 cases of drug abuses arresting 8,189 suspects and seizing some 106 kilogrammes of illicit drug, 13 kilogrammes of dry marijuana, and 140,400 marijuana trees.
