National Campaign Pushes Down Illicit Drug Crimes Throughout Cambodia

Illicit drug crimes have declined remarkably after the launch of national campaign against the devastating business by the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD).

Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior shared the update when chairing a recent review meeting of the campaign implementation and forward planning, taking place here in Phnom Penh.

Latest figures available show that competent authorities across Cambodia have cracked down 4,331 cases of drug abuses � arresting 9,694 suspects and seizing 119,657 grammes of illicit drugs, 13,635 kilogrammes of marijuana, and 140,361 marijuana trees.

Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng expressed his profound appreciation for the endeavor of concerned authorities contributing to the success of the campaign.

Based on lessons learned and good practice, the Deputy Prime Minister and participating officials also drew up forward planning to uproot the social development and security threats.
