National Census Extended for Another Two Days

The 2019 general population census, which began since Mar. 3, has been extended for another two days, until Mar. 15.

H.E. Srey Da, Spokesman for the Ministry of Planning, was quoted as saying by local media, explaining that the number of households in census centres is more than estimated.

According to the Ministry of Planning, this is the third national census which would cost about US$8.5 million. The first one was conducted in 1998 and the second one was completed in 2008.

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has on several occasions called on his compatriots to participate in the census and cooperate well with the census officers.

The provisional results of the 2019 general population census would be announced in three months, while the official results in six or nine months, according to the National Institute of Statistics under the Ministry of Planning.
